RK,
I have one (I'm sure it needs to be rebuilt..) I'm considering another, just
because I like "period" performance mods.
I spent an hour on the phone with George Folchi (he's "THE" guy that
rebuilds them...nice guy and very knowledgeable).
Here's the issues... with an 8.2:1 CR and adding 1 gallon of race fuel to
standard 93 octane premium available today, he's still seeing detonation. To
work on today's fuels, you'd need a CR of about 7:1, which by the time you
give back that much hp on the front end, its hard to make it up on the back
end (or visa versa) with boost.
Guys have tried water injection, and othe things to get them to run cooler,
etc.
So, if ya don't mind 50/50 race gas and street premium, they work real
well... but if you travel outside of the fuel range of your tank, you need
to be prepared to carry extra race gas. They work best with the stock cam,
and if you eliminate the detonation issues, seem to be ok on the pistons and
crank.

looks like it might mostly there (carb/pulleys/manual, i'm not sure about
the oiler) and in fair condition too, but dissasembled.

cheat'n dog. or can i?

is it just a nice wall hanging period piece? i am sure it would make for a
real intresting road car extra. are they worth the trouble? will i blow
things up?.. any experiences, comments, and even inquieries welcome.
