I went through college in a body shop. the worst cases of rust were on cars
using a ziebart coating method. the problem was it dosnt seep into cracks and
seems but webs over them creating great little pockets for moisture and grime
to trap and eat metal.
i have used cosmoline with limited success. and just a plain old oil. you can
also get a sticky almost paintlike stuff that is used on big truck frames, but
gas or cleaner often turns it to a runny mess. after tink was painted, i SOAKED
hert in a mixture of 1/2 used motor oil and cosmoline. it still seeps on a hot
day. but in the grand scheme of things will probably rust as fast as the rest
of us. how about using lanolin?...sorry.
