ANOTHER NATIONAL CHEESE RECALL
A Wisconsin-based supplier of cheese products is requesting its distributors
to recall several of its brands because of concern over possible listeria
contamination. According to published reports, the cheese is produced by
Hill and Valley Cheese and has been sold under several brand names.
The cheese products were sent to nearly two dozen states, from the Carolinas
to Arizona. Shipments include a variety of cheeses from cheddar to colby.
Listeria is a bacteria that typically causes food poisoning symptoms. But,
in people with lowered immune systems it can be fatal. It can also cause
miscarriages or stillbirths.
The company has set up a consumer help line: 800-325-8150.
