Kirk, It doesn't sound right when you say "bearing rests against the splines" There should be a small pad mounted to the diaphragm clutches fingers that the carbon throw-out bearing rides against. If you are missing that pad then you would see accelerated throw-out bearing wear. FWIW, this pad is removed when you install a Rivergate kit. In that case the Datsun roller throw-out bearing rides right against the diaphragm clutch fingers. Also, a quarter inch free play is recommended, but that does not mean the bearing will retract away from the pad when the clutch is released. |
