I basically followed Frank's procedure when I did my '77 Midget. I bought
a roll of carpet at an auto store and used the old pieces as templates. 3M
spray adhesive works great to keep it in place. I put down some sound
deadening material on the larger expanses of floor before glueing the
carpet to it.

For the tranny hump, I took the old carpet piece to an auto interior shop
with a piece of the new carpet and they sewed one together with nice
matching piping for about 50 bucks. It was much better than I could do, so
it was worth it to me.

I suggest you cut each small piece of carpet, such as the pieces for the
door sills, the ledge in front of the tranny hump, and the pieces behind
the seats, a little larger than necessary and then overlap the floor pieces
an inch or so. You can also use carpet in place of the vinyl interior
panels for the footwell sides. You can't see them very well anyway, and
the carpet if easier to install.

We just did this to Larry Macy's rebuild. But, if you are going for a
concours quality resto, ignore everything I just said.
