Wow what an interesting story Michael. I have been going back and forth
regarding new or pre-loved VW's and this is very valuable information. I
really love the old VW's as I am just starting to get into the mechanics of
my old Split Window bus which is a 1967, my engine is a 1971 Super Beetle
and though very different from all the other engines I know I really like
the simplicity of it. Now I understand why the BMW airhead motorcycles are
so popular although I hope I never have to work on mine. I have been
contemplating buying a 60's or 70's Beetle from California as they are
about 6K-10K in very good condition and save up for a new engine for my
Saturn wagon when this engine being installed as we speak goes.

So Michael is it the Passat newer VW engineering or the not using the
premium gas that started all the trouble with your daughters car?

List how are VW Golf & Rabbits? I have heard the new engineering is not
there but I see the young guys still love them as I see rows and rows of
them at the VW shows I go to.
