State Farm rocks! $51/6mos to cover it as a "personal pleasure" vehicle under
their "classic" policy. I don't plan on exceeding 5000 miles/yr, so they can
cover it under the "classic" policy and I can drive without restrictions.
Sweet! Thanks, guys.

Hi Ed,
I have talked to my State Farm agent about classic car insurance.
The people he has working for him are nice enough but don't know insurance like
he does.
Be aware of this when you talk to an agency, not everyone in the office is
qualified, though they may believe what they say they also might not have all
the information.
My agent for about 22 years told me yes they do have a classic car insurance
for
cars that are not trailer queens and may be driven around just not used as your
daily driver.
They would value my Midget at about $6500 if it were all one color (humor for
those who know my car) but $4500 as it is.
When my Grundy policy is up on my Sprite I'll probably switch it over to my
local SF agent.
Right now I have it on 'normal' insurance so it is costing me more than my
family van.
I think I can get that cost lowered a bit by trimming off some extra coverage I
don't really need.
Anyway, what I'm getting at is that you would do well to find a local agent
that
you like and is willing to research things for you.
They need your business so make them work for it.
When you come to an agreement about coverage and price that you are happy with
then you are left with just driving your car and enjoying it.

I am looking to make a daily driver out of my 78 Midget and was wondering what
other types of insurance people have found outside of Hagerty and the collector
car type insurance companies (too expensive if you use it daily). Companies
like Geico are now offering coverage, just not sure how good it is. My current
insurance company won't cover the car.
