Well, sort of, I end up stretching the spring under the carbon when I 
tried this 2 times in the past.
The carbon is notched to fit in the coil of the spring which is narrower 
than the carbon so it moves freely.
If you can get the carbon and spring out without stretching the spring, 
it's do-able. Stretch the spring and toss the cap.
