I've just been through this with a failed fan clutch. Fortunately, some
kind soul from the BCF forum sold me a fan clutch cheap.
If you keep the Midget water pump, apparently, you can just hack saw off the
end that used to hold the fan clutch. However, this will still not give you
enough clearance to put in a "puller" electric fan. The electric fan will
have to be mounted in front of the radiator, ie "pusher", slightly less
effective.
Let us know how you get on - if this fan clutch fails, I'm putting in an
electric fan.
