My definition of 10/10's is when you are in a corner, full chat, the tail
is hanging out, you are at full opposite lock and you are right on your
line. Minor direction corrections are made with the right foot. That is
full on fun and you can't do better than that. Change the car and you can
go faster but 10/10-'s is all there is for that moment.
Years ago, when I was racing Karts, this other guy was always about 1/2
second a lap faster than I was. I always asked him what he did to his kart
to get the extra little speed. He always said nothing. One day during a
practice session, we traded karts and, of course you know this is coming, he
was 1/2 sec a lap faster in my kart and my in his. Some drivers just have
that little extra touch that can account for only 4 or 5 hundreds of a
second per corner. It all adds up.
Cheers,

Yep, that sounds about right, Ron. Isn't it amazing how, with a bit of
practice by the driver, the car all of a sudden is so much more capable than
it used to be! Imagine the capability of the same car when a pro is
driving!
Ron and I had this conversation a while back about how the difference in
skill between an amateur and a talented amateur is dwarfed by the the
difference between a talented amateur and a pro. It's humbling to see what
those guys can do. And damn fun to watch, I might add.
