Do I remember reading (hearing?) somewhere that at one point DMH had the lowest RAC (RAF) "member's number" as the longest surviving pilot?? There was an anecdote that he went to check into the RAF Club in London and was almost refused entry due to the fact that the (young) receptionist had never seen a number that low.
