I had a friend who always wore his seatbelt and in fact the first thing he
said when you got in his car (front or rear) was not 'hello' but 'have you
fastened your seat belt'.
One day he went to a late night party. I forget whether he was the driver
or the passenger but anyway they stopped because one of them was tired, driver
and front seat passenger swapped places and they drove on. The road was icy
and the car spun and left the road. My friend had forgotten to put on his
seat belt for the first time in his life and it cost him his life that very
evening (early hours of the morning).
My experience with seat belts saving my life have both been with barrell
rolls. One with a 4 point harness, the other with a lap and diagonal. Guess
which belt set ensured I had a ride to the hospital in an ambulance with a
suspected fractured skull.
My Sprite has a roll bar, with FIA padding and the seat is a good bucket
seat with a 6 point harness. The pasenger seat has a head rest and good
sports
seat with a 6 point head rest.
YMMV but I hope not.
