<<Who would like to venture a guess at what having a concrete floor poured
would cost?>>
10K is CHEAP compared to what it would be around here, RD !!
<<My floor is crumbly and about 2.5 inches too low compared to the driveway,
at the lowest point.>>
And GOOD contractors would see that immediately.
<<I figured, that someone would rough it up to remove the loosest parts, and
then pour over it.>>
Not if he is in his right mind and is reputable !!
<<The guy who came to give me an estimate last night was actually
recommending raising the driveway as well to help with my problem.>>
For the pic (link) you included plus the others ones I've seen, SMART man.
<<So, he was recommending cutting out the old concrete, adding a base and
then pouring 4 inches of concrete.>>
I would prefer 5" WITH re-bar AND mesh.
And the old sh*t HAS to go!! Absolutely ZERO difference from painting a
car!! PREP work IS the MOST important part<G>!!
<< I'm told that it's roughly 580 square feet.
( But, I think it is roughly 21 x 23. ) >>
For that AREA - 483CF. BUT you should ask where the other 97cfs go<G>!!
<< I wasn't impressed with his decision to tell me what needed to be done
instead of quoting on what I wanted done
I am. Now you tell me, are you going to allow AND accept him doing "your"
spec'ed job and prior to him doing the job, appear in Court and accept
a Decree that once job is finished according to YOUR specs, he is forever
more relieved of any responsibly for his work and product?!?!?!
<<and the price just floored me. >>
If you are willing to do above, call him back (and explain) and request a
"new" price (which will be quite a bit "cheaper"). Course he may be
UN-willing to even consider as his "Name" is still linked to the job.
If not, IMHO you should not be 'floored'<G>!!
