WAY easier to use 1/2" conduit 'pipe', Andrew.  Measure out the space,
cut the 8' "stick" 6" LONGER then with BFH FLATTEN the ends.  Bend
'flats' to suit and drill screw (self-tapping sheet metal screws) into
place.

Almost bet cheaper too<G>!
