I brought my Bugeye to work with me today and my accountant was asking about
values of Bugeyes. We decided to try to find the inflation rate for the last
50 years and came up with an interesting number. Assuming a Bugeye cost $1800
new in 58 if you apply the inflation rate (638%) to that amount it makes a
Bugeye worth now just about what they were in current dollars, $13,200.00.
Interestingly if you had put the same amount of money in the bank at an
average interest rate of 4% for the same 50 years you would have $13,256. No
guarantee of accurate numbers but still fun to play with. At least it's not
about ZDDP!!
