But I used very different words than that in the subject line.
I had a front hub all clean, blasted, and powdercoated only to find out
the inner wheel bearing is very very loose. Like it falls out and has
plenty of side play.
So I says to myself, you must have the wrong bearing, the inside of the
hubs never wear out. Well apparently the do!
I dropped the bearing in the other hub and it fit like it should.
Not a big deal as I have a few extra hubs but now I have to remove the
old bearings, degrease it, glass bead it, and powdercoat it.
This will take all evening, talk about a setback!
And my possible future son in law just dropped off the wheels with the
new tires he mounted for me. Darn! I can't put that 4th wheel on
tonight. The 67 has been sitting on a spackle bucket for a good 3 months
now, it's time to roll it over to the hoist so I can install the engine
and trans. But nope, bum hub means maybe tomorrow or Friday night for
the motor.
And don't even talk to me about the crash pad vinyl I am trying to glue
on. I don't know why but tonight the glue is drying fine but it doesn't
stick. Same contact cement I have been using for decades, always worked
fine, maybe it's old, about a year as it's leftover from the 58, too
cold? it's around 40 in the garage. Just my bad luck tonight?
Oh well, I will go out after dinner and use some more serious words as I
talk to my parts before I talk to a completed car.
