175 or 155 is the tread width in mm (I think). the 80 or 70 is the
profile. It is defined as 80% or 70% of width. So a 155/80 is 155 mm
wide at the edge of the tread and the sidewall is 124mm (155mm x 80%).
the 175/70 is 175mm wide at the tread and the sidewall is 122.5mm high
(175mm x 70%). Sidewall is the distance from the tread to the bead on
the wheel. So the 175/70 is wider and shorter. The numbers you have
below does not include the width, but the sidewall and diameter
numbers are correct.
