It takes lots of practice. I think probably the hardest part is learning to look at the puddle rather than the spark. Don't be afraid to experiment with the settings. The recommended settings are very general, and sometimes cranking the heat and moving faster works better, and vice versa. Get a lot of scrap to practice on, and use the rusty bits you cut out. It's a very different metal from the new panels.
