The bugeye died on my way home from the weekly breakfast gathering of the
SICKOS (Special Interest Car Klub/Organization/Society). Even with my limited
(but improving) mechanical skills I was quickly able to determine that lack of
fuel was the culprit. As the gas tank was half full, I assumed the mechanical
fuel pump had likely ruptured the diaphragm, but upon disassembly, it was
intact. But while removing the fuel line to gain access to the pump (talk
about tight), I realized no gas was flowing via gravity from the tank. I
could blow into the fuel line, but that didn't initiate flow. Finally, by
pressurizing the fuel tank, I got a good flow going that was sustained after
releasing the pressure.

Fine and dandy, except I really haven't fixed anything. Whatever caused the
blockage is likely still in there, lurking to rear its ugly head again. What
should I do before I put it all back together and declare the problem fixed?

Thanks.
