I read somewhere that the much lower injury rates are due to the
nature of collisions in a roundabout. Invariably they are glancing
blow collisions with an acute angle between car paths and both
vehicles traveling significantly slower due to the necessity of
turning. In X intersections, on the other hand, most collisions are
T-boners and at higher rates of speed.
