Finally got my rear brakes squared away, with new hoses, new L/H backing
plate & adjuster, new O ring and gasket on both hubs, new wheel
cylinders and shoes.
Got started on replacing the seals in my front calipers. Starting on the
first one, I got one side in, turned it over, and while installing the
second, promptly got the retainer ring off center and ruined it. So
guess I won't be able to finish the brakes till Tuesday or Wednesday
now... Feels like the whole summer is getting away..
I have NOT split the calipers. Is there some trick to installing the
seals or the pistons? I lubed the seals with fresh brake fluid before
inserting the piston, but it was very challenging to say the least. To
install the seal retainer, I laid a piece of flat bar stock across the
seal and carefully pressed it in with a couple C clamps...
