Running stock compression ratio, Mike or head been previously cut?

What color do "6" spark plugs show when run for a while? They on the "light" 
side or
brown in center, black on the "outside"?

And yes, if you've checked out all the "usual suspects" (and you seem to have) 
pulling the head for inspection is next.
