I am no expert... but as nobody replied yet... if it is a Weber, it is not
original to that car - if my memory serves me right, all Opel GTs came from
the factory fitted with a Solex 32 carburettor. I know some owners fitted
Weber 32/36 DGV/DGEV carbs, as the Solex did not have a good reputation, and
I assume that's what you are looking at. The jets/settings will most likely
be all wrong for a A series engine. I think the 32/36 was designed for
engines in the 1600 cc to 2000 cc range. I have no experience with the
Weber 32/36 on a A series, but I did fit one to a 1300 cc MKl Ford Escort
Sport a long, long time ago. Worked well enough for the track, but was kind
of too much carburation for the street, even on a "rallye Specs" engine, and
there was a flat spot in acceleration I could never totally cure, even after
several visits to a "rallye mechanic", tuning, rejetting, etc. That's what
I remember anyways! The fact this is a downdraft may mean bonnet clearance
issues on a A motor too. Don't know if there is a manifold for the 32/36 and
the A series engine. Seems to me, if anybody wanted to fit a Weber on a
Spridget, a side draft (DCOE) would be better.
