Jig the nut, using only a GOOD drill bit (after all, you're drilling a grade 
5 nut!), start drilling just enough to mark the side of the nut.  Remove the 
nut, and in a straight down fashion that prevents walking the bit, make a 
nice little starter pit in the nut (1mm).  Re-jig it and away you go.  Once 
you have the hole started, things go much better.
