Thanks folks for all the great suggestions AND for making me laugh.  
BTW, I'm sending all the comments on our economic situation to Bud 
Greenspan, fwiw.  ;-)  Sure got ourselves in a pickle didn't we?  I just 
got a reply from Hewy-Peckard tech support from a gal named Charming 
Chan.....I think I ran into her in bar.....oops, 'nother story.  Well, 
the heck with it, I'm going shopping.
