On the radius arms, on all 1/4 leaf sping cars there is a spacer, looks
like a 1/2" thick washer that takes up the space between the radius arm
bushing and the extra space on the square channel of the rear axle.
I know I have had trouble remembering which side the spacer went on in
the past, my past cars were a 60 and a 59 Bugeye. Now I am doing a 58
and it has the same spacer. (bushing)
Bob Walker told me it goes outboard and I put it back.
This makes sense since the thicker welded in spacer at the radius
arm/body connector is outboard.
If you can push your radius arms sideways, you didn't install the
spacer. They are such a tight fit, I had to grind off the powdercoat to
get them to sneak in the space.

Progress on the 58 is brake pipes and hoses installed.
Rear suspension 100%
Front suspension is all in but I still have to connect the trunions to
the shocks but with no engine in the car yet, I can't jack up the A arms
without the body coming off the stands. (new springs too)
Wiring harness is all in and most of the lamps. Improved and extra
grounds have been neatly installed in the harness before I wrapped it.
Interior is on the floor in a roll. Red vinyl and carpet. the seats are
at the upholstry mans house getting new seat pans fabricated and
recovered in red with light almond piping.
Dash is covered and waiting to go in.
Wipers, master cylinder, etc are all in.
I am running out of parts real quick.
If my local Nissan dealer would ever get the datsun tranny seal in, I
could install the engine and trans.
Leave it to a jap part to hold up production.
And best of all, not ONE mo$$ part on this car yet.
And all I need is a tail lamp cause my Triumph NOS lamps looked right
until I went to bolt them on. :(
