In the last episode of "The Wire" (HBO)
a friend of a black kid saved from a life of
crime in the ghetto by a caring black adult
and his wife flashed a "V" sign to his "saved" friend, palm facing toward his 
buddy.

I wasn't sure what it meant, but now, thanx to the Spridget List, I know.
