Aww, come on!  8-tracks had their own special little routine.  Hold the tape 
just so and rap it against your other hand just right, then ease out a foot 
of tape and then tighten it up just right to get them to play again.  Kind 
of like smoking, tapping the pack, peeling off the cellophane.......   the 
integral rituals that were so pleasing.
