Guy,
My split system does have the "H"-shaped pressure warning valve mounted on
my firewall.
In fact, it drips brake fluid a little bit. It's not pouring out, but just
seeps out from time to time.
I am very puzzled by the no fluid at the rear driver's side cylinder. That
could be caused by the "H" shaped valve shutting off the rear system,
though, correct?
Thanks!
John

You have only mentioned bleeding the front brakes. If you haven't you
should do the rears as well.
I take it your split system is one that splits in the m/cyl and does not
have a separate shuttle valve. (This is a 'H' shaped brass assembly a
couple of inches from the M/cylinder mounted on the firewall. If you have
one of these all bets are off and you will have pushed the valve across when
you bled the fronts.) If you are happy that you have built the m/cyl
correctly look elsewhere first and adjust & bleed the rears is the next
step. If the motor is not being driven take the rear drums off, move the
shoes away from the rear cylinders and clamp or tightly wire them closed -
both sides. Then bleed them. You will find this a quicker and easier way
to bleed them. This way misses out any shoe adjustment hiccups.
You have had the comments in relation to the rear flexible pipe but from
what you say it may not be that, it may just need the rear shoes adjusting
correctly and then bleeding fully.
One way to check the rear flexible is to grip it GENTLY in your hand whilst
someone presses the brake pedal and you will feel it going rigid forwards of
the point where it is blocked - if it is blocked. Be wary the internal
split may be right at the front end!
However, from what you say it may be they just need bleeding and adjusting.
You CANNOT treat the front and rears as separate items when bleeding, they
are joined by the m/cyl fluid and need to be treated as a whole. (Otherwise
you can get spongy brakes!!!!!)
Best of luck
