I agree... half a double flare is NOT a bubble flare.

A single flare is not the same as a double flare nor is a bubble flare
between the two.  Argue as you may, but the same tool cannot be used
reliably to make bubble flare's consistently and reliably.  If you need
a bubble flare then buy a kit that has the little heads in it to make a
"bubble" flare.  Snap On, Proto, K&D all make the kits.  Of course, if
you don't mind the panic that sets in when the brakes fail at the most
inopportune time because of the flare's seal failing then use whatever.
Hey, it's only money....You can either spend it on the correct tool or
on the repairs that follow from not using the correct tool :).  Kind of
like using a chisel to take off and put on an axel nut... It will work
but failure is eminent at some point.
