Hello rrengineer,
hmmmmmm,,,,
let me preface this with... i'm no expert and don't know what
i'm talking about... BUT,
having looked over the instructions that came with the Crane
Electronic Ignition, AND the instructions from a Pertronix
Unit, .. .. they are BOTH looking for a THREE (3) ohm coil,
that is reading 3 to 5 ohms when tested between the Positive
and Negative terminals. That's what a stock coil happens to
read and is said to be "internally ballasted". if you
resistance is 1.5 ohms or less) as some (i think bosch?) or other sport
coils, then you need the ballast resistor, if your dizzy calls
for one. pertronix sells both kinds by the way.
