I'm trying to salvage a mirror off of a spare P.S. door. Set screw will not
budge period. OK I tried soaking and soaking, heat from my MAP torch,
retightening, pounding, etc. worked on it for several hours. Nothing worked.
Finally gave up and thought ok I'll drill the set screw out. Went to the
hardware store and found a new 6mm x 1.0 pitch set screw , a correct size 5 mm
drill bit, and a 6 mm tap. Started drilling only to find out the drill won't
hardly scratch the surface. Set screw is hardened steel.
OK I now turn to the all wise and knowing Spridget List. What now. I want to
give Kent Miller his spare door back but how in the hell do I remove this set
screw?
