Jerry,

Is it the tach or tach drive gearbox on the back of the generator?  The 
drive you can have rebushed by a competent machine shop.
The tach can rebuilt by Nisonger Instruments 570 Mamroneck NY 10543  
Phone is (I believe) 914.381.1952.
Other listers have other sources I'm sure.
