That's my point.  Are you sure of that, or is that just what you've heard?
If you have personal experience with cars that run IRL, CART, F-1, or NASCAR
then 
that would be persuasive.  But the guy that told me this was the lead tech
in a
shop that built NASCAR racers.  A buddy of mine who has been building SCCA
cars for years
uses Grade 8 in EVERYTHING....just because it's Grade 8.  No really sound
reason.

AN or certified airframe bolts are a different story, but us little vintage
Spridget racers
are buying Dorman bolts over the counter most of the time.

.... but if you go look at race cars you will see almost pure
grade 8 or AN stuff.... just the way they are built and maintained...
