Hi Chuck, Try this. Grind the exit side and entrance side of the allen. If the allen's are surface hardened, it will take the hardness off where you are drilling. I run into this all the time at work and this works well on surface hardened stuff. A 4" grinder works well or even a bench top one. The hardened surface is only a few thousand deep. This will extend the drill bits and make it easier to drill. If you don't have access to a grinder some other method of removing material will work too. WW Ricky |
