You don't have any wierd situations like a Positive Ground Engine in a Negative Ground Chassis do you, due to a P.O.'s engine swap. Bugsy came equipped with a '66 1098 with Generator installed into a '68 Negative Ground chassis. Car started and ran but Generator Lamp, not an alternator lamp, came on. I needed to change coil leads and repolarize the Generator and all worked fine for the past 4 years. Clean up of the green slime off of all of the electrical connections you can find and if that doesn't fix it likely you need a new alternator.
