float valves

OK, minor brain cramp...I'm installing the carb float valves I just got from 
Peter C (Thanks).  Does the pointy rubber end go up, into the seat or down, 
toward the float.  I hope I haven't had the old ones in upside down, tho 
that would explain a few things
