If you prime a part first will the top coat paint "crackle" up properly? (What is the proper name? hammer something or another?). If a primer coat does interfere with the crackle action, then should a phosphate scrub be used on the bare metal before painting? I have painted directly on bare metal with a heavy coat and it crackled up just fine. Now I wonder about the longevity of the paint job since I did not prime first. TIA Tim |
