Skip That white/brown wire on a 65 Sprite goes to the oil filter NOT the coil. Assuming the car is still positive ground, white wire goes to negative (or SW) on the coil. white/black goes from positive on coil (or CB) to distributor. White/brown is the clogged oil filter warning light, that red light just right of the center of the dash.
