Ron,
I know you're talking about a Bugeye, but can anybody do that with a
Spridget where you have to pull the radiator and valence every time-- or am
I doing it the wrong way?

Frank can do it in less than 1.5 hours. I did it
Tuesday night, 2 hours round trip, including unbolting
old and re-bolting new gearbox to the engine. I also
had to modify the motor of the Harbor Freight hoist I
used, included in the 2 hours. Without a hoist, I
have personally done it solo, but it is a lot harder.
In a pinch, I've done it with engine / gearbox
separately pulled for manageability. Judicious use of
a floor jack and a piece of pipe is required here. If
you're "gonna do it anyway", pulling the head makes it
a lot easier to handle solo.
