Exactly (pretty much) my complaints,
Jackson.

Last 1340 Vizardized street burner I ran
had 1.414 Rimflow intakes and ran 11.0-1
with Powermax flat-tops, a VP3 cam, 1.5RR's, and a 45DCOE with 38mm
chokes, 7k redline. 90+hp chassis dyno
hp @ 30 degrees total advance.

This motor was tuned on a 50/50 mix
of Citgo 93PON and CAM2 110RON
Racing Fuel which gave approx 100RON.

Today, with plain 93PON unleaded, Bill
Perry recommends no more than 9.0-1
on a 1275 street application and you can
go 10.0-1 with an alum head. He's a
conservative kinda guy!! :)

I am currently running an 8.3-1 1293 with
the old Cooper "S" cam advanced 4 degrees for Metro inlet timing, using
an Aldon (PerTronix equipped) 43D
(again, 31-32 degrees of total advance)
with alum. head. This motor was originally
built with a Judson blower in mind and
thus, the low CR. It's quicker than hell
on Citgo 89PON!!

When the head eventually has to come
off for one reason or another, I'll most
likely shave it for 9.5 to 1 since the
blower is no longer in the picture. At this
point, we'll go with Citgo 93PON.

Meanwhile we're saving a few bucks on
gasoline! :)

BTW...we are using the stock 1.25SU
set-up with AH2 needles and red springs.
The car goes so well on these, that I have
more or less scrapped plans to go with the previously used
(recalibrated) 45DCOE.
