So tonight I was hooking up the exhaust hangers on the Yellow Bugeye and
I see a wet wheel on the other side of the car.
Wet like in leaky wheel cylinder. And I was NOT about to fight with an E
clip. So I have new wheel cyls in stock, why not just swap out the
pistons and be done? I do it, clean and replace the shoes, reinstall the
drum and wheel, adjust the brakes and check the pedal. Still hard, no
bleeding needed. BUT.... It's still leaking!
So on a second attempt at "messing around" inside the wheel cylinder, I
notice fluid coming out of the bleeder. I never touched the bleeder
since I bled the brakes 2 months ago.
So a loose bleeder nipple will cause fluid to drip out on your tire.
I guess that explained why the inside of the drum was dry.
So what I could have fixed in a minute, but should have never been
"wrong" in the first place. caused me a few hours of unneccessary work
tonight.
Old age is rapidly creeping up on me.
