When it's showing "cold" as you describe,
how's the heat in the car in terms of
"quality"? Cool, lukewarm or hot?
I owned a '64 B and later changed to a
GB 5 main engine. Both of these used
a mechanical gauge. They behaved as
expected and ran at the thermostat
setting (180F).

Later I got a '72 and removed all the
smog equipment, running well vented.
Here again, engine ran at the thermo.
setting of `80. All these engines as far
as I know, had mechanical water temp.
gauges.

Ron S.! You owned a later MGB. Was
it electrical or mechanical in this respect,
