OK, I'll fill the void with some actual spridget content.
I've got a few extra bucks and the Austin and the Morris are now in pretty
good shape so its time to upgrade the bugeye motor a bit.
I'm considering new pistons with ceramic coating on the crowns and
anti-friction coatings on the skirts, a custom ground cam (APT) to compliment
the turbo better than the old Isky MM55.
Beyond that, I'd like to go over to a Gilmer belt timing rig, a friction crank
damper, larger water pump pulley, drop the fan and go with an electric
'suck-through' fan on an aluminum radiator.
Does anyone have a recommendation for any or all of the above items? It looks
like APT has most everything and David Anton has been quite helpful, so much
will probably come from him but I welcome specific recommendations if someone
has a good suggestion.
Since 0.030 over, 11cc dish pistons are now near-impossible to find, I'm
wondering whether its better to bore up to 0.040 over and try to find 11cc
dish(still pretty hard to do) or re-sleeve and go 0.020 over, as 11cc dish
pistons of this size are easy to find. I prefer the 11cc dish to help hold
down the compression ratio for the sake of the turbo running 91 octane.
Suggestions welcome.
