First of all welcome to the list. You
are among some very nice and
knowledgeable people here who also
appreciate guns, cats and beer to
one extent or another, on a (ahem!!)
"reasonably limited" basis! :)
You are indeed correct regarding no
real main seal on these motors so if
not PCV system equipped, they
sufficient venting to relieve crankcase
pressures. The rear crankshaft block area
by the scroll seal is also subject to wear
in terms of fitting tolerances, over many
miles and I am told this may play a part
in this as well.
Is your application running PCV equipped
(and operable) or are you running simply
"vented"?
