Let's see, my '79 Midget, my '77 parts car, my wife's BMW 318is, and my
'00 Ford Ranger all came from ebay.
The two Midgets were $800 and $250 respectively, so that's a relatively
small sum. The 318 was $2400, and in Chicago, and the person we bought
it from stated that we could refuse the car if we didn't want it once we
had seen it (he was a used car dealer in the Chicago area). As for the
Ford, it was on Ebay, but it was also local, so I had a chance to drive
it before I bid.
Of the four, the '79 Midget is probably the car I overpaid for,
considering how much rust I found upon cleaning it out. The Bimmer was
rough around the edges, but did the trip from Chicago to New Jersey with
no problems at all.
my 2 cents.

I'll say the obvious.
Who in their right mind would buy a car sight unseen?
