If you sat in a Miata, you would find that the Spridget has more leg room.
The "K-Series Midgets" that people in England are concocting are generally
1.6L and 1.8L, same size engines that Miatas have used. Miata people tend to
report life-changing experiences cause by the acquisition of a Miata similar
to what happened to you when you let a Spridget into your life.

Maybe around you. Here in Chicagoland we have the Windy City Miata Club. I
joined their club because they have more fun with their Miatas than we do in
our MG club ;-( Yes, I am an active member of the local MG club as well.
This year the MG club had a total of 5 autocross/gymkhanas, three of which
were for season points. Of those, we hosted one, two were hosted by the
Austin-Healey club, and two were hosted by the Miata club.
The Miata club, OTOH, hosted 10 autocrosses this season. We consider a dozen
cars to be a good turn-out. The Miata club routinely gets 30+ cars and in
the 50s is not uncommon, despite the fact that there are other club
activities scheduled for the same day, something the MG club never does.
Yes, they have about the same number of members as we do.
They also do things like their annual pilgrimage to Deals Gap, NC to drive
the Tail of the Dragon (318 corners in 11 miles, check out
www.tailofthedragon.com). They invite us to one or two of their autocrosses
each year and we invite them to a couple of our rallies.
Last Saturday we invited them to our annual Lucas Knight Rally. It was too
chilly out for any of the MGs to drive it topless (mid-50s), but a couple of
the Miatas did. OK, they do have better heaters (sure wish I had dash
vents), but their tops certainly do come down (and much more easily than
ours ;-). </rant>
