Hi All,
Kathy and I took the weekend off and found some of the BEST Spridget
roads in Pa.
We left Tamaqua at about 11:30am on Saturday with no plans or
reseverations.
We took 44 north from Bloomsburg, Pa to 287N near Williamsport, Pa.
ariving at Wellsboro on Saturday afternoon. After locating and
checking in at a (one room) cabin (Pine Tree Lodge) just west of
Wellsboro on Rt6, we went for dinner and a little "exploring".
The temperature in Wellsboro area last night was about 47 degrees, great
sleeping weather!
Sunday morning we stopped for breakfast at a small family diner and
began the trip home about 10:00am. West on Rt6 then south on Rt44 to
Buckhorn, Pa then country roads thru Catawissa, Centrailia and Mahanoy City.
Rt44 is all very narrow two lane country road, all twisties and hills &
valleys bordered on both sides by Pa State Forest area. (Highest
elevation is about 2300 feet). This road has some major twists and
turns! In several sections we traveled 30+ miles without seeing any
sign of civilization, not even another car. We did pass a Triumph
(going the other way) and that was the only other LBC we saw.
Total travel, 478 miles and the Midget didn't miss a beat!
I can't wait to go back up there!!!!
