There are places where you can get
the springs specially treated with a
"coat" which will help them self-lubricate
and remain rust-free over their service
life, David. Lubricite, lubriplating, something like that. This came up
about
a year or so ago on the list. Wish the
hell I could remember the name of the
firm that does the process. Maybe it's
in the "archives".
Other than that, knowing their prior
history and with no obvious defects
to be seen, I'd lubricate the hell out 'em
with LPS or one of the other usual suspects, get 'em new "modern rubber"
bushi and stick 'em in there (and respray
them with the aforementioned product
every LOF for a long, reasonably rust-free
and lubricated life), turn the key and drive
away!! :):)
