Will I be stepping on toes if I venture to speculate that there were quite a
few more gold chains around the necks of the Vette guys?

Another big difference is the psychology of the owners. Different
kinds of
people buy different kinds of cars. Our Brit car club used to meet
at a
beer place in Sacramento on the same night as the Corvette club. As
you
walked past the room they were meeting in, you couldn't help but
notice
they looked VERY different than the LBC crowd. The Brit group is
definitely
more eccentric looking than the Vette boys. Quite a lot of platinum
blonde
heads in the Vette meeting, next to guys in monogrammed slick
jackets.
The car chooses the owner? The owner chooses the car?
